Before the Fall:

Genesis 1:27 'God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male & female He created them'

Genesis 2:18 'The Lord God said “It is not good for a man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.' For Adam no suitable helper was found.

Genesis 2:22 'The Lord God made a woman  from the rib he had taken out of man & He brought her to him.'

1 Corinthians 11:8 'Woman came from man'

Genesis 2:23 'The man said,” This is now bone of my bones & flesh of my flesh, she shall be called woman for she was taken out of man.”'

Genesis 2:24 'For this reason a man will leave his father & mother & be united to his wife & they will become one flesh.'

Post Fall?

Conscious of their nakedness.  Afraid. Genesis 3:10  I heard You in the garden & I was afraid because I was Naked so I hid.”

Both self justified: 'The woman You put here with me, she gave me some fruit & I ate.'

The woman said, ”The serpent  deceived me & I ate.' Genesis 3:11-13

Genesis 3:16-19 Painful in child birth.  “I will greatly increase your pains in child bearing. With pain you will bear children Your desire will be for your husband & he will rule over you. Cursed is the ground because of you. Through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground for dust you are & to dust you will return"

NT  1 Timothy 2:11-15 'A woman must learn in quietness & full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man. She must be silent. For Adam was formed first then Eve. It was the woman that was deceived & became a sinner but will be saved through child bearing, if they continue in faith, love & holiness with propriety'

Order of Creation. Adam first then Eve.  Eve deceived & sinned.

Kephale/head  1 Corinthians 11:3 'The head of every man is Christ, & the head of the woman is the man & the head of Christ is God.' (Of the same nature)

Kephale means authority in Greek literature.

Ephesians 5:22-24 'Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord.  The husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. His body of which He is the Saviour. As the church submits to Christ so also should wives submit to their husbands in everything.'

Kephale/authority Ephesians 1:22-23  'God placed all things under His feet & appointed  Him to be head over everything for the church which is His body the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.' Christ has been exalted far above all rule & authority dominion & power.

1 Corinthians 11:3 Christ is the authority over every man. Jesus is in charge. All must submit to Him. Jesus has been given all authority & power Matthew 28:18.

He knows the will of the Father. The woman submits to Christ. She affirms that the man is head of the woman.

Women in the Church & the home.

The Home: Ephesians 5:22 'Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord'  ....in every thing.

1 Peter 3:1-6 A woman could win her husband to the Lord in her pure & reverent behaviour.

Deborah a prophetess. Not a senior pastor of a church?

Phoebe a deaconess

Men: Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church

1 Peter 3:7 Women by nature are weaker. But stronger if they rely on Christ.

If there are no men taking the lead then a woman has to take on the role of a man.

Missionaries – once the majority were women. Had to lead until men were saved to serve.

The woman was not taken out of the head of man to dominate him, nor out of his feet to be dominated but out of his side so that both may work together with the Lord who alone is the Head of the church.

God has equipped His church with Godly men & women.  Allow Him to appoint who to teach & make Him known.
