Genesis 3:1-7.

  1. The woman saw that the tree was good for food,
  2. That it was pleasant to the eyes,
  3. And a tree desirable to make one wise,

Note what the serpent said in verse 3 “and you will be like God.”

1 John 2:15-17.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world” – The system and what it contains.

If you do love the world, then get it clear in your mind – the love of the father is not in you. Serious, don’t you think?

For all that is in the world:

  1. The lust of the Flesh. I Feel and crave for and I must do it.
  2. The lust of the Eyes. I see and want to have.
  3. The pride of Life. I set value on things for the status that it gives me.

Comparisons with Genesis 3:6:

  1. The lust of the flesh – the tree was good for food.
  2. The lust of the eyes – that it was pleasant to the eyes.
  3. The pride of life – a tree desirable to make one wise.

Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1,13.

The Tempter’s question to Jesus. V3.

The Tempter quotes two passages of Scriptures in V6.

Which are: Psalm 91:11; and Psalm 91:12.

The tempter tempts Jesus in V9.

What are the lessons we learned?

  1. Now you have some idea of Satan’s strategies.
  2. Notice that Satan used scriptures verses to tempt the Lord.
  3. For us who loves our Lord, we take the type of replies that our Lord gave to the enemy.
  4. That means WE need to know the Word of God personally in a deeper way.
  5. Beware our enemy has LOTS of experiences.
  6. Let us look at 1 Peter 5:8-9.
    1. ‘Sober’ ‘Sober spirit’ ‘Self Controlled’. Why?
    2. ‘Vigilant’ ‘Watchful’ ‘Alert’. Why?
    3. Resist him, Steadfast in your FAITH. The enemy wants to derail Your FAITH and your TRUST in the TRUTH of the Word of God.
